Salt Lake City's first zoo was started up by the Salt Lake Parks Department in 1912 with an original investment of $153. Today the Zoo is home to animals from around the world and is proud to promote conservation efforts. Being good ambassadors of wildlife is not only providing animals with excellent care but also calls for caring for them in the wild. Utah's Hogle Zoo supports conservation initiatives around the world, sometimes focusing on single species or working to conserve the ecosystem they live in.
