Emma Eccles Jones Foundation

The Emma Eccles Jones Foundation has maintained a strong commitment to KUED's children's television programs and educational outreach efforts since 1998. Emma Eccles Jones (1898-1991) was a noted philanthropist, educator and pioneer in early childhood education. She established the first kindergarten program in Logan, Utah in cooperation with another Utah education pioneer, Edith Bowen. In 10 years of directing that program, Jones contributed her salary toward needed supplies. She not only taught young children, but also taught a whole new generation of prospective teachers in Utah and California, and provided them with a solid foundation for their professional careers. Beyond her interest in early childhood education, Jones was a patron of medicine and the arts, and made significant contributions to opera, symphony and ballet in California and Utah. She established the Emma Eccles Jones Foundation in 1972.
