Marie Eccles Caine Foundation - Russell Family

For nearly a quarter of a century, the Marie Eccles Caine Foundation has provided funding to support arts and cultural programming on KUED. This longtime commitment has enabled KUED to bring perennial favorites such as Masterpiece Theatre, MYSTERY! and Great Performances into the homes and hearts of people throughout the state. These programs represent the very best in classic and contemporary literature and drama, world-class music and performance art, and epitomize the rich cultural and artistic programming that cannot be found anywhere else on television.

A native of Logan, Marie Eccles Caine actively supported the arts in Utah throughout her life, particularly in Cache and Box Elder counties. She instilled in her daughters, Manon and Kathryn, a lifelong interest in the arts. They formed the foundation in 1981 to continue her legacy of support for the arts in northern Utah. The impact of the foundation's work has been nothing short of extraordinary. Some of the foundation's many beneficiaries include the arts programs at Utah State University, Utah Festival Opera, Utah Symphony and Opera, Ballet West and KUED.

During the past decade alone, the Marie Eccles Caine Foundation has provided more than $10 million in funding for arts and educational projects across the state. In 1997, the foundation was honored with the Governor's Award in the Arts, which recognizes contributions through artistic achievement or service to the arts in Utah. More recently, the foundation received the prestigious Foundation Spirit of Giving Award as part of Utah Philanthropy Day in 2005.
