Whether you’re planning a long camping trip, a travel adventure, or just a short hike, Kirkham’s has something for you. Since 1944, Kirkham’s Outdoor Products has continued to supply Utahns with a broad selection of outdoor merchandise.
Originally a manufacturer of tents, awnings, tarps and horse blankets, Kirkham’s has evolved into one of the premiere outdoor specialty shops in the western U.S. A wide selection of sleeping bags, camp stoves, lanterns, backpacks and more is always available for the outdoor enthusiast.
For many years, Kirkham’s has also been an underwriter for KUED. “KUED’s quality programming reflects our quality products,” says Jack Kirkham, Jr., owner of Kirkham’s Outdoor Products. “Like KUED’s local programming, we offer products that are grounded in Utah’s culture and landscape.”
Kirkham’s was originally founded by Jack Kirkham, who invented the Springbar tent frame in the 1960s. Since then, the simplicity inherent in the design and the Springbar’s ready availability have made the Springbar one of the most respected tents in history. After 1978, the retailer moved to its present Salt Lake City location. With 60 Utah employees, the retailer’s savvy staff is always on hand to explain the variety of products in Kirkham’s selection. In addition to accessories and casual wear, its complete factory service department can cut various weights of canvas duck, nylon and specialty fabrics.
“We’ve always had the outdoor enthusiast in mind,” says Kirkham. “We provide a very appropriate mix of supplies and accessories for campers, hikers, cross-country skiers, and lovers of the outdoors—particularly in Utah.”
Kirkham sees the KUED viewer as the perfect customer. “KUED members appreciate high quality. They enjoy discovering new things, and we are here to help them do that.”
