The FCC has mandated that all television stations turn off their primary analog transmitters on June 12, 2009 and from then on broadcast only digital signals. However, this date does not apply to rural analog translators. Viewers outside the Wasatch Front will receive digital service at a different date.
KUED has launched an aggressive plan to establish digital translators throughout the state. Some communities already receive KUED's digital service thanks to grants from the Utah State Legislature and the federal government. Our plans call for the installation of additional digital translators during the summer months 2009. Check the status of digital service in your community by visiting this page or by contacting KUED's Technical Services Department at 801-585-5987.

During the transition period, television reception in your community may depend on both analog and digital translators. If you plan to purchase a new digital television set, be certain that it will receive both analog and digital signals. If you plan on purchasing a digital converter box for your analog television set, we recommend one that will also pick up analog signals. A list of those boxes is available at www.ntiadtv.gov/cecb_list.cfm. The boxes marked with an asterisk will receive both digital and analog signals. Your provider will continue to deliver KUED's programming to you without any further action on your part no matter where you live. Check with your provider if you have questions!
