The University of Utah Lyric Opera Ensemble is performing two one-act operas by Puccini: Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi
These operas make up the final two parts of a trilogy of operas called "Il Trittico". This work in its entirety premiered at the Metropolitan Opera on December 14th, 1918. The first one-act opera in the work is entitled "Il Tabarro" ("The Cloak") and is usually not performed with the others. "Suor Angelica" ("Sister Angelica") was composed in 1917, set to a libretto by Giovacchino Forzano. Forzano had originally intended for this work to be a spoken play, but Puccini set it to music.
Tickets are $20, $15, & $10.00 dollars and can be purchased from the Kingsbury Hall box office or online.
