This year’s annual Heritage Day in Spring City will be on May 27. Sponsored by the Friends of Historic Spring City and the Daughters of Utah Pioneers the event will include a tour of over fifteen historic buildings, many along the city’s historic Main Street, and an art and antique show at the Old Spring City School.
Tickets for the home tour cost $10 for adults and $5 for children and are available at the old firehouse on Main Street or at the Old Spring City School. A number of newly restored homes will be on the tour including the famous Orson Hyde house. Several restorations in progress will also be open to the public including the Allred Hotel, the Judge Jacob Johnson house and Wiley Payne Allred house. Funds generated by ticket sales and proceeds from the Art & Antique show and Art Squared go towards the Old Spring City School restoration fund. Breakfast & lunch at the city bowery is sponsored by the Young Men & Women’s Organization of the L. D. S. Second Ward.
The Art show and sale held at the Old School will feature paintings of current Spring City artists including: Osral Allred, Lee Bennion, Linda Budd, Susan Gallacher, M’Lisa Paulsen, Cassandria Parsons, Kathy Peterson and other local artists. In addition this year’s “Art Squared,” a wall of one-foot square paintings to be auctioned will include most of the artists mentioned above as well as famous Utah artists known nationally including Brian Kershisnik, Michael Workman, Doug Fryer and others. Available this year will be a limited edition woodcut celebrating Spring City by artist Susan Gallacher.
