Thomas Paine was a key figure in the American Revolution.
His Common Sense pamphlet, published January 10,
1776, called upon the colonies to break with Great Britain
and articulated the vision of the American Revolution.
Hans Petersen's Tom Paine is an intimate dramatic
performance, bringing to life this celebrated figure from
America's past. The program traces Paine's life from his
childhood in England to his revolutionary years in America
and his near-execution in France to his lonely final days
in New York. The 55-minute production includes an intermission
so that it may by shown over two class periods with time
for discussion. |
