Aired Thursday January 10th, 2013 at 9:00 pm on KUED HD Ch. 7.1
KUED will be among more than 160 public television stations that will premiere the British crime drama series DCI Banks on Thursday nights beginning January 10. The episodes are each 90 minutes.
Based on the Instpector Banks novels by award-winning author Peter Robinson, the series stars Stephen Tompkinson (Father Peter in Ballykissangel) and Andrea Lowe (Lady Eleonore Luke in The Tudors) as tenacious Chief Inspector Alan Banks and feisty Detective Sergeant Annie Cabbot in seven thrilling crime stories.
The Yorkshire countryside provides a striking backdrop to these chilling murder stories. Hour-long episodes follow the well-constructed plotlines of Robinson’s gritty detective novels.
The first episode begins the story of Robinson’s novel Aftermath. Written in 2002 and considered Peter’s breakthrough novel in the UK, Aftermath tells the story of an ordinary house on an ordinary street, which is about to become infamous. When two young police constables are sent to the house following a report of a domestic disturbance, they stumble upon a truly horrific scene. The wife, Lucy Payne, lies on the verge of death from a head-wound and her husband Terry crouches in the cellar, surrounded by a scene which will shock the two constables to the core and make a truly lasting impression on their lives and careers.
Consequently, the identity of a serial killer has finally been revealed. But his capture is only the beginning of a shocking investigation that will test DCI Alan Banks to the absolute limit.
