The People's House, Re-Dedicating the Utah State Capitol

On Friday, January 4, 2008, the State of Utah will celebrate the renovation of Utah's State Capitol with a re-dedication ceremony that will air live at 2 p.m. on KUED-Channel 7, and again that evening at 8 p.m. Entitled "The People's House: Re-dedicating Utah's State Capitol," the program includes music, song and Utah's leading elected officials.

The celebration will feature a special musical anthem commissioned to honor this event, authored by Katherine Coles, with musical score written by Kurt Bestor. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, accompanied by the Orchestra at Temple Square and the 23rd Army Band, will perform the musical tribute.

Then stay tuned at 9 p.m. for "With Anxious Care: The Restoration of the Utah State Capitol," as documentarian Michael Dunn chronicles more than three years of renovation work ranging from seismic retrofitting to artisans re-crafting and recreating the original murals and original artwork.
