MASTERPIECE CLASSIC fans can continue their love affair with "The Complete Jane Austen" series Sunday, March 30, at 8 p.m., when KUED-Channel 7 airs the first of a two-part episode entitled "Sense and Sensibility."
David Morrissey (State of Play), Dominic Cooper (The History Boys), Dan Stevens (The Line of Beauty) and Janet McTeer (The Amazing Mrs. Pritchard) lead an all-star cast in Andrew Davies' romantic and stylish new adaptation of Jane Austen's beloved novel. Newcomers Hattie Morahan and Charity Wakefield play the levelheaded Elinor Dashwood and her impulsive sister Marianne. Though poor, they attract a trio of very promising gentlemen: soon-to-be wealthy Edward Ferrars (Stevens), heroic Colonel Brandon (Morrissey), and Byronic John Willoughby (Cooper).
The death of their father throws Elinor Dashwood and her sister Marianne virtually penniless onto the marriage market. But then three handsome and apparently well-heeled men come courting.
In episode two, airing Sunday, April 6, at 8 p.m., desirable bachelors Edward Ferrars and John Willoughby seem to have spurned the Dashwood sisters, while another suitor, Colonel Brandon, has disappeared on a mysterious mission.
