KUED-Channel 7 and Country Inn & Suites By Carlson - Bountiful - host a Writers Workshop Celebration for the 15th Annual Young Writers & Illustrators Contest

Join KUED-Channel 7 and Country Inn & Suites By Carlson Bountiful for a Writers' Workshop Celebration for the 15th Annual Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest on Saturday, March 7th, from 1 - 4 p.m., at Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, 999 North 500 West, in Bountiful.

Children will participate in a story-writing workshop and have the opportunity to map out their own stories for submission to the KUED Contest. Special guest entertainers include the magic of Mike Hamilton and "Chief," mascot for the Utah Blaze Arena Football Team. Ernie Flynn, magician and balloon artist, will be on hand to tie balloons. Refreshments will be provided.

Children from kindergarten through third grade are invited to participate in the Writers Workshop Celebration activities. Representatives from the hotel and KUED will be on hand with community partners to talk more about the competition. The Contest encourages children's writing and story-telling skills. Winning story entries are eligible for both local and national awards. Country Inn & Suites by Carlson signed on with KUED last year as a presenting sponsor of the Emmy-Award winning Reading Rainbow program, which airs on KUED-Channel 7 at 9 a.m. weekdays.

The KUED-Channel 7 Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Competition began Friday, February 27th, and goes through Friday, April 3rd, 2009. All entries must be submitted to KUED by Friday, April 3rd, to be considered for both the local and national competition.
