KUED's Scott Chaffin Retires as Director of Broadcasting

KUED-Salt Lake City announces the retirement of Scott Chaffin, Director of Broadcasting, after 35 years of public television experience. Chaffin will take on a new role as program consultant, which includes responsibilities for KUED’s future activities in new media. KUED’s James Davie will assume responsibility for the station’s programming schedule as Director of Programming.

Chaffin has held a variety of positions at the station, including Producer-Director, Director of Programming and Director of Production. He was named Director of Broadcasting in 1989.

“Scott has been an integral part of KUED and its success for more than three decades,” says KUED General Manager Larry S. Smith. “He is an institution here and we are pleased we’ll continue to benefit from his wide-ranging expertise in our industry.”

Chaffin is a past President and Board member of the Public Television Programmers' Association. During his career he has also served on numerous national panels and advisory groups such as the Station Advisory Committee for CPB (Corporation for Public Broadcasting), the PBS (Public Broadcasting Service)Communications Advisory Committee, the POV Editorial Selection Committee, and panels for ITVS (Independent Television Serivce) LINCS (Linking Independents and Co-Producing Stations), NAATA (National Asian American Television Association), NEH (National Endowment for the Humanities) and others. Chaffin serves on the Board for Pacific Islanders in Communications.
