KUED Presents Film About Jewish-Palestinian Poet During the Holocaust

Release Images:

A new Independent Lens special, Blessed Is The Match: The Life and Death of Hannah Senesh airing Tuesday, April 13 at 11:00 p.m., tells the compelling story of a young Jewish-Palestinian woman who joined a military rescue mission to save Jews in Hungary during World War II.

Blessed Is the Match tells the story of Hannah's passion, determination and bravery as she parachuted behind enemy lines to save innocent people. The film reveals how she was ultimately captured, tortured and executed by the Nazis in the presence of her mother, Catherine Senesh.

The film captures the unique and complex life of Hannah, a talented poet caught in an inescapable world of war and genocide. With unprecedented access to the Senesh family archives, the film weaves dramatization and interviews with surviving members of the rescue mission - along with Hanna's personal poetry of thoughts and feelings during the last years of her life.
