KUED Sweeps Rocky Mountain Emmys

KUED has received the most Rocky Mountain Emmy Awards of any Utah television station, and any public television station in the six-state region.

KUED received the prestigious Governor's Award for exemplary public service for its production/outreach/education campaign associated with We Shall Remain.

In addition, Senior Producer John Howe was a multiple-honoree, winning Emmys for achievement in Writing, Long-Format Photography and Environmental Program Achievement for Wilderness: The Great Debate. Liz Searles, Sally Shaum, Rick Randle and Geoffrey Panos received Emmy awards for Best History Documentary for Utah World War Two Stories: The Untold Stories. Red Rock Rondo, KUED's collaborative production with the Western Folklife Center, received Emmys for achievement in Music (Philip Bimstein), and for Best Arts/Entertainment program (Hal Cannon and Taki Telonidis). Utah Now was honored as Best Topical Documentary for The Job produced by David Castleton, Doug Fabrizio, Erik Nielsen and Gary Turnier.

"Peer judging panels throughout the nation honored KUED for the best public service, the best arts program, best environment program, best history program and best current event program in our region during the 2009-2010 broadcast year," says KUED Director of Production Ken Verdoia.
