In Southeast Utah, the desert canyonlands tell a silent tale of the forces of nature. Here the sun-baked lands have felt the effects of wind and time for more than 300 million years, and animal life animates the area as rattlesnakes and desert lizards roam the sands in search of prey.
In these sun-scorched lands, there is another hunt going on a hunt for excitement and adventure as modern-day adventurers explore the magnificent canyonlands in an array of sporting events and activities.
A white-water boatman leads a dangerous expedition down the fierce rapids of the Colorado River; a modern-day cowboy rides an outlaw trail in the shadow of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid; and two world-class hang glider pilots soar off Dead Horse Point as they take to the skies high above the canyonlands.
Desert Dreams, a KUED-TV production by award-winning producer John Howe, features the exploits of these daring sportsmen and it takes viewers on a powerful journey through Utah's spectacular deserts. The documentary is narrated by Joseph Campenella.
Painting a complete picture of Utah's canyonlands, Desert Dreams travels from the fringes of Canyonlands National Park to the goblin valleys of Hanksville, Utah, from the slickrock country of Arches National Park to the powerful beauty of the Colorado river.
Desert Dreams takes viewers to a place of imagination, where golden-brown lands and massive precipices are filled with excitement and adventure amid the searing heat of an unforgiving sun.
