It's more music this week on KUED.  Tonight at 7:30, celebrate the legendary works of the most acclaimed lyricist and librettist of the 20th century in Oscar Hammerstein II – Out of My Dreams.  Then at 9:00 p.m. Great Performances looks at the Jewish legacy of Broadway musicals.  Interviews and performance footage highlight why Broadway is fertile territory for Jewish artists.  Sunday at 3:00 p.m., David Alden's new production of Verdi's Un Ballo in Maschera comes to PBS as part of Great Performances at the Met.

Go back in time to Egypt's Golden Empire,  for three Monday nights at 9:00 p.m. beginning this Monday.   Over 3,500 hers ago, Rome was no more than a soggy marsh and the Acropolis was just an empty rock, but Egypt was on the brink of its greatest age — the New Kingdom.  There was an explosion of creativity, wealth and power in Egypt that would make it the envy of the world.  After defeating the Hykos invaders, successive Pharaohs expanded and maintained their Empire through both force and diplomacy.
