Shot in a raw and intimate style, Homeless at the End tells the story of the final months and days of homeless residents in a unique hospice setting, providing a poignant account of the experience of those in our community who are medically frail, and who have often been forsaken. It also highlights the essential relationships between homeless residents, medical personnel, staff, and volunteers of the INN Between.
The film offers a rare glimpse into the lives of formerly homeless people as they struggle to come to terms with the end of their lives, and shows the need for a greater understanding and compassion for Utah’s terminally ill homeless as they face the end of life.
The one hour film will be followed by a panel discussion led by KUER's Whittney Evans.

In 2015, 39 homeless people in Salt Lake City died in shelters, on the streets, and in crudely constructed campsites. The average life span for the chronically homeless is only 51 years. Each homeless man and woman is unique, and their stories and circumstances run a wide gamut; however, regardless of the choices one makes in life, every human being deserves to experience the end of life with dignity.
The INN Between officially opened August of 2015 and bridges the longstanding gap in end-of-life services for homeless individuals along the Wasatch Front, providing terminally ill homeless individuals with safety and comfort in their last days.
