Reading Marathon
Learn more »As part of the Ready to Learn initiative, KUED partners with public libraries and community groups statewide to promote literacy among more than 2,000 children and families each year. This two-week marathon for children takes place in November during National Children’s Book Week. As a reward, a Super Reader Party is held at the Grand in the Utah State Fair Park for children who achieved their reading goals. Children receive free books and parents receive free PBS programming resources.

Ready To Learn Workshops for Parents, Teachers and Caregivers
Learn more »As part of KUED's Ready to Learn initiative, the Ready To Learn Workshops are designed to help kids ages 2-12 gain skills for achieving success in school and life by presenting quality, non-violent children’s television programs in conjunction with workshops for parents, teachers, librarians and child caregivers on how to teach with television.

Young Writers and Illustrators Contest
Learn more »As part of KUED's Ready to Learn initiative, the Young Writers and Illustrators Contest is open to children grades K-3. This contest encourages children to write and illustrate original stories. Local winners have their stories published on KUED’s Web site and are eligible to compete in the national contest. Local winners are invited to a celebration in May.
