PBS Airs Special, "After Newtown" Friday at 7:00 p.m.

As our country comes together to grieve the loss of lives in Newtown, Connecticut, and begin a conversation about how to prevent such future tragedies, public broadcasting is stepping forward to lead the way.

This Friday, January 21 at 7:00 p.m., KUED will pre-empt Washington Week and Need to Know to broadcast a PBS special report, After Newtown, anchored by seasoned journalist Gwen Ifill. Drawing on the resources of PBS NEWSHOUR, Frontline, NOVA and Washington Week, the collaborative effort will provide the context and analysis that is unique to public broadcasting.

In the coming days and weeks, as the country explores a long-term response to the tragedy in Newtown, PBS will play an important role by engaging in the kinds of in-depth, thoughtful discussions that lead to real solutions, not just headlines or sound bites. Public television will engage in honest, in-depth and non-partisan coverage of the aftermath of the tragedy.
