KUED and Pal Curious George Visit Eco-Friendly Store in Draper

Our PBS pal Curious George will be in town this weekend and stopping off for a visit at eco- friendly IKEA, Saturday, April 25, from noon to 3 p.m. "Join us as we explore the many environmentally friendly products and spend a little time with KUED as we illustrate simple ways to encourage children to become more engaged in the environment," says Jacqui Voland, Community Outreach Coordinator for KUED 7.

As families enter the IKEA store located at 67 West IKEA Way in Draper, children will be welcomed by KUED and IKEA personnel with a drawing for a gift bag full of IKEA goodies. The drawing will occur at 2:30 p.m. outside the IKEA cafeteria. You must be present to win. While you browse the store, take advantage of the free child's menu coupon with purchase of an adult meal.

In the spirit of recycling and reusing, ask your child if they would like to bring one of their toys, books or board games and exchange or donate these items with others who just might have that long sought-after toy or book your child has been yearning for. Any remaining toys will be donated to a local children's charity with a daycare center. Collection and donation will be outside the children's play center. "We are pleased to be able to provide an opportunity to gift forward and share our resources with the community," said Voland.

Curious George will be visiting the children's section of IKEA to greet his friends with a free surprise. Parents can stop by the kitchen area to learn a few handy tips on getting outside and "green" with the family and additional resources from KUED. Sign up for a membership with KUED and receive a free reusable bag courtesy of KUED 7.

"This collaborative event offers the community an opportunity to see IKEA's environmentally friendly products and have a little fun with KUED's educational programs that educate children and parents about how they can implement recycling and "green" efforts into their home and community lives," said IKEA's Amber Stilson-Glenn, p.r. and marketing specialist.
