FRONTLINE Airs Special on Bin Laden Tues. May 3 at 9 p.m.

In light of the killing of Osama bin Laden by U.S. Special Forces in Pakistan, FRONTLINE presents "Fighting for bin Laden," hosted by veteran FRONTLINE producer/correspondent Martin Smith, who first reported on bin Laden for FRONTLINE back in 1999. The special airs Tuesday, May 3 at 9:00 p.m. on KUED.

In the lead segment, Afghan journalist Najibullah Quraishi ("Behind Taliban Lines") once again goes deep inside enemy territory. He gains rare access to a band of Afghan mujahideen and foreign fighters who say they're loyal to bin Laden and are preparing a new offensive against the U.S. and coalition forces.

Then, FRONTLINE crosses the border into Pakistan, where correspondents Stephen Grey and Martin Smith go inside "The Secret War" against the militants. They uncover new details of a CIA "private army" of militiamen launching kill raids against al Qaeda and the Taliban inside Pakistan. They also find new evidence of covert support for elements of the Taliban by the Pakistani military and its intelligence service, the ISI. At a safe-house not far from where bin Laden was killed, they make contact with one mid-level Taliban commander who tells FRONTLINE, "If they really wanted to, [the Pakistanis] could arrest us all in an hour."

"Kill/Capture," FRONTLINE's film about the U.S. military's stepped-up campaign to kill or capture thousands of Taliban militants, will now air next Tuesday, May 10.
