The groundbreaking musical, Show Boat, redefined entertainment and changed the face of American theater. Spanning the years from 1880 to 1927, Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II’s lyrical masterpiece concerns the lives, loves, and heartbreaks of three generations of show folk on the Mississippi River, in Chicago, and on Broadway.

Show Boat airs Friday, October 16th at 8:00 p.m. on KUED as part of the PBS Arts Fall Festival.

KUED will broadcast the Debate for Salt Lake City Mayor on Thursday, October 8 at 7:00 p.m. with Mayor Ralph Becker and challenger former Utah State Representative Jackie Biskupski debating various topics and answering questions from local journalists, University of Utah students, and Salt Lake City residents.

The debate will be hosted by KUED's Ken Verdoia.  For online viewing options, visit kued.org.

The candidates will cover a diverse range of topics, including public transportation, LGBT rights, healthcare, and visions of growth for the city.

A 3,700-year-old inscribed clay tablet revealed a surprising new version of the Biblical flood story, complete with how-to instructions for assembling an ark. Following the directions, expert boat builders assembled and launched a massive reed boat.

Witness a new investigation of the Biblical flood story, leading to the reconstruction of an ark in NOVA: Secrets of Noah’s Ark, airing Wednesday, October 7th at 8:00 p.m. on KUED.
