About the show
KUED premieres the pilot for a potential magazine-style, outdoor series highlighting the unique landscape and outdoor opportunities in Utah. “Adventure Utah,” produced and hosted by Emmy Award-winning Tami Sanders, will air Wednesday, June 7 at 8 p.m. and repeat Monday, June 12 at 9:30 p.m.
“It’s going to be fun, energetic and family-oriented,” says Sanders of the pilot that will travel around the state highlighting outdoor activities that people of all levels can enjoy.
From rock climbing outside Orangeville, to the Rockin' R Guest Ranch in Antimony, to the White Rim Trail near Moab, "Adventure Utah" is designed to provide activities for virtually every viewer. A profile of world-renowned photographer Tom Till will kick off the half-hour program, inspiring viewers to “get out” and experience a pretty, great state.
"A ‘pilot’ is a unique opportunity for viewers to take a look at what might be in the future of public television," says KUED’s Director of Production Ken Verdoia. "Viewers responding to the program and encouraging our efforts will enable us to plan for many more episodes of 'Adventure Utah' in the future."
Viewers can fill out our online survey or call KUED Viewer Services at 581-3064 to provide feedback. “In this case, the voice of the public will make a big difference in our decision,” says Verdoia.

Tami Sanders, Producer
Tami Sanders came from a family of roller skaters. Her grandpa, uncles, and Dad all ran roller rinks.
“My Dad owned and operated Berthana Roller Rink in Ogden," said Tami. "My brothers and I were there every day, either skating or skateboarding when we were supposed to be cleaning skates.”
Her first encounter with broadcasting was competing on national television for America’s Jr. Miss Pageant. “Michael Landon was the host. Olympic gymnast Cathy Rigby was a judge and my talent was gymnastics! There’s no pressure there!” Thus began her life-long passion in television.
She was determined to learn everything she could about TV: writing, studio production, field production, marketing, entertainment and news.
"I’ve walked on fire, water skied barefoot, climbed to the top of Angel’s Landing and flown with an acrobatic pilot in a biplane designed to land upside down!"
Her television work spans nearly 30 years, earning her three Emmys, many Utah Broadcasters Association Awards, and International TV and Film Festival awards.
Carol Dalrymple, Associate Producer
Carol Dalrymple is a passionate athlete, performer, and craftsman. A storyteller and experienced professional in all aspects of production, she has been dedicated to the production of quality programming for many years.
Her library of work ranges from in-depth long-format films to short promotional spots. Most of these have received local, national, and international television and film festival awards awards of excellence, including two personal Emmy Awards for achievement in the craft of editing (The Journey Home: Stories From Hospice; Utah: The National Parks).
With a true love of the outdoors, her interest is to tell the stories of people who explore the natural environment of the West; to present people with accessible ideas and ways to experience the West; and to inspire people to who have only dreamed to ‘make the next adventure theirs’.
David Krummenacher, Graphic Artist
David was born at a very young age, and soon after developed an interest in two hobbies: art and the outdoors. He enjoys going to new places on his trusty steed “Jezebel,” named thus because she takes him from his family on a regular basis. And he loves to draw. Where he is at, you will probably find him either drawing or muttering about how he need to “hit the trail” again. 
David has worked at KUED as an in house artist and video graphics developer since 1998.
William Montoya, Audio Engineer
Some call him Will, Some call him Billy, Bottom line is he's an Emmy award winning audio professional. Highlights of his experiences include shadowing Mike Mcdonagh at Skywalker Ranch, Opening Ceremonies of the 2002 Olympic games and The Athens Olympic games of 2004.
Biking, Hiking and Fly-fishing are some of Will's favorite outdoor activities.
Will has found time to produce and edit some independent projects at home including commercials and a Utah based Travel show. Currently Will provides Post Audio Editing, Live Studio and Field Audio support for KUED as well as DVD authoring. Away from the station Will provides Freelance audio as an A-1, A-2 and ENG audio Engineer to a variety of companies and events.

Outdoor photography with Tom Till
Tom Till has traveled the world photographing some of the world's most beautiful places. But he makes his home in Utah.
"It's, I think, taken for granted by a lot of people," said Tom. "It's an amazing, amazing place."
Tom shared his breathtaking photography of Utah with us, and even took us out on a trip to Deadhorse Point overlooking Canyonlands National Park.
"I feel like I've won life's lottery. It's such a wonderful job."

Mountain biking the White Rim Trail
The White Rim Trail is a 100-mile loop through the Island in the Sky District of Canyonlands National Park. The gorgeous scenery makes this one of the most stunning and well-known trails you'll find. 
You'll need a permit to ride the trail, and if you intend to camp overnight, you'll need to reserve a campsite. Learn more about permits and fees from the National Park Service.
Bouldering at Joe's Valley
In a state full of rock, it makes sense that Utah would be a mecca for rock climbers. We wanted to try bouldering at Joe's Valley outside of Orangeville to see how it's done.
'Safety first' is the motto of bouldering. You can take as much or as little risk as you choose. it's an activity you can do with the whole family. Whatever your experience level and fitness level, bouldering has something to offer you.
One essential piece of equipment, however, is a safety pad, to help catch your falls. You may also want to use climbing shoes and chalk, used to improve your grip on the rock.

Recipe for Mulberry Pie
- One un-baked 9-inch pie crust
- 6 cups stemmed mulberries
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 Tbsp lemon or lime juice
- Add sugar to mulberries in a saucepan. Mix cornstarch with water. Add to 4 Cups berries. Add lemon or lime juice. Cook over medium heat until mixture thickens and juice becomes clear.
- Pour into Un-baked pie shell with 2 Cups fresh Mulberries
- Bake @ 350 for 45 minutes
- Add Crumble topping bake 15 minutes
- Cool and serve
- Crumble top
- 8 Tbsp butter
- 6 Tbsp flour
- 3/4 Brown sugar
- Mix with for until coarse
