"The Spirit of Fort Douglas" Producer
Joe Prokop
"The
Spirit of Fort Douglas" is Joe Prokop's debut historical
documentary. He published an
article about Fort Douglas history in the latest issue of
the Univeristy of Utah's Continuum magazine.
Prokop began his career as a student
intern at KUED, then joined the staff of KUED's Media Solutions
in 1995.
Committed to the educational power of television, he has produced
numerous University of Utah telecourses, including "Introduction
to Economics," "World History" and "Technology
Navigator." He has created additional video productions for
the Utah Opera, University of Utah Alumni Association, and the
Utah Education Network. He has created on-air spots promoting
environmental responsibility and has produced a video production
featuring the University of Utah's annual Veteran's Day panel
for the past three years. He also produced "An Introduction
to Psychology: An ASL Tutorial" a nationally distributed
series which explains concepts of college level psychology in
American Sign Language for deaf students and their classroom interpreters.
Dedicated to the community, Prokop volunteers each week delivering
food to the elderly through the Meals on Wheels program.
A native of East Lyme, Connecticut, Joe Prokop moved to Salt
Lake City to ski. He graduated from the University of Utah with
a degree in communication. He lives in Sugarhouse with his wife,
Heidi, and dog, Bob Barker.
