August 1984: The Glen Canyon Dam spillway test was held August 12, 1984. The successful spill of 50,000 CFS of water out of the left spillway caused no damage to the dam. Glen Canyon Dam is located approximately 15 miles upstream of Lee's Ferry and regulates the water level of the Lake Powell reservoir, which holds approximately 27,000,000 acre feet of water. Guy F. Atkinson Company was responsible for the dam's construction rehabilitation.
