2012 Golden Apple Honoree: Becky Worwood

Each Friday at Jordan Ridge Elementary, Becky lets her second grade students become teachers as part of  “Discovery Day.”  Students are able to choose any subject that interests them.  They can invite guest speakers, perform, sing or draw.  Becky knows that teaching is one of the best ways to learn.   In addition, she provides enrichment activities that include dance, science experiments, art and music appreciation, theater, music appreciation, writing and even publishing their own books.   Not only does she make learning fun, but children leave her class with higher self-esteem, confident they can accomplish anything.
