2012 Golden Apple Honoree: Rod Bullock

Rod is a Speech Language Pathologist at Park Elementary.  He works with students of varying abilities. Some of his students come to him not speaking at all, or with speech that is very difficult to understand, but Rod knows how to channel their energy in the right way to get results. 

Since children are naturally attracted to animals, Rod brings animals into his classroom and has the children talk to and about them.  This gives him a chance to observe their speech skills and provides a non-threatening learning atmosphere for his young students. For Rod’s students,  talking to the animals is part of improving their speech and language skills.
