Mothers have always had ridiculous expectations to live up to, but the scholar Susan Douglas says a movement is growing that gives the moms of the world a break. This week on Utah NOW we're talking about the myths and the realities of being a mother in modern society.

Our studio guest Susan Douglas is a professor of communications at the University of Michigan and author of "The Mommy Myth: The Idealization of Motherhood and How it Has Undermined Women."

If you read her columns in the Deseret Morning News, you know that Ann Cannon has a lot to say. Have her own expectations of motherhood changed as she's raised a family of five sons? Tune in as we sit down with the writer and her family at dinner time.
