The performing arts
are tools that a community can use to build pride in a cultural heritage.
The Greek Orthodox Church in Salt Lake City supports three levels of folkdance
performing groups, the Junior and Senior Greek Orthodox Youth Association
(GOYA), and the college-age Dionysius Dancers. These groups teach Greek
customs and traditions to the youth who act as cultural ambassadors for
the local community when they perform at festivals and celebrations. There
are also several groups of musicians who play for Greek social and folk
dancing in Utah. Cretan Dinner Dance on April 23, 1988 Greek Orthodox Youth Association Dancers at the 1987 Living Traditions Festival Dionysius
