Sponsors of The Journey Home The Lawrence T. and Janet T. Dee Foundation Established in 1971, the
Lawrence T. and Janet T. Dee Foundation is dedicated to promoting
charitable, educational, scientific, artistic and care-giving purposes
primarily in the Ogden and Salt Lake communities. Founded by Lawrence
Dee, an Ogden entrepreneur, philanthropist and civic leader, the foundation
has made significant donations to the University Hospital in Salt Lake
City and the McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, in addition to underwriting
for KUED-7. Along with his wife Janet, Lawrence quietly made a difference
in the lives of family, in the lives of friends and, mostly, in the
lives of those in the community who may not have known either of them.
"As people are living longer and the aging population increases," says foundation Co-Vice Chairman Tim Dee, "Hospice care is becoming an important, timely issue. We feel it needs to be discussed in the community as a component to end-of-life care." The Utah Medical Association Foundation Started in 1963 with quarters
left over from an untapped polio vaccine fund, the Utah Medical Association
Foundation was formed to support projects that improve the health
and health-care for citizens in Utah. Having grown from $250,000 to
over $2 million today, the 10-member trustee board of the UMAF
"extends the reach of the healer's hand," in the form of generous
contributions. In addition to underwriting The Journey Home,
the UMAF donates to the Baby Your Baby program and the Utah Boys Ranch
clinical services. "Hospice care is not only essential to the well-being of patients, it's valuable for the family too," says UMAF Chairman F. Tempel Riekhof, M.D. "There's a common misconception that 'hospice' is a place you go to, but really it's a wide variety of services offered to patients, often in their own homes. We stand behind those services, and want to help get the word out." The Willard L. Eccles Charitable Foundation The Willard Eccles L. Charitable Foundation was primarily established to promote, encourage, and make available a variety of public health care services in Utah. Focused in the Ogden area, the foundation aids various charitable nonprofit hospitals in acquiring appropriate medical equipment for research and for rendering health care services. In addition to underwriting The Journey Home, the foundation is devoted to furthering medical education and research statewide.
