Dr. Steve Warren
I received my bachelor's degree and master's degree at the Univeristy
of Utah in Chemistry and Public Health. I received a doctorate in Public
Administration in Health Care Policy Administration and Hospital Administration
from George Washington University. I also received my medical degree from
GWU, and I did my residency in family practice at the University of Utah.
I am currently board certified in family practice and also in hospice
and palliative medicine. I practiced in Monticello, Utah, for 9 years
in family practice and in Ogden, Utah, for 6 years.
For the past year I have practiced full-time in geriatric medicine, devoting
my time to nursing homes and hospice. I am the medical director of Utah's
Heritage Hospice and the medical director of 5 skilled nursing home facilities.
I also do some palliative care visits at home. I see patients in nursing
homes and at home. I also teach the nurses and the public. I am very interested
in end-of-life care and providing excellent care for this population of
patients. I strongly believe in hospice and how it can help a family with
the process of dying. If a patient is sick enough to die, then they should
be on hospice and receive the total care that we provide.
Patients need pain control whether it is physical pain, spiritual, emotional
or financial pain. I feel hospice can provide the entire family support
- not just the patient. I feel we can help families and patients put closure
to their lives and help them with this process. I want to help everyone
understand how important hospice is and that we can offer excellent supportive
care.
