Yucca Mountain continues to be a political battleground. Early spring reports of quick approval for the site were turned aside when Democrats took control of the U.S. Senate and promised to oppose the site's selection.

At the same time, Private Fuel Storage vowed to advance its Utah storage project, regardless of a decision on Yucca Mountain.
