Somewhere between a too-short TV News story and a long-format documentary

Utah experience. Utah Now is our response.
Created by KUED in the spring of 2006, Utah Now has evolved as an innovative exploration of the challenge, change and personalities that influence and shape our life and times in the West.
From a thought-provoking exhibit on the human bodym, to eclectic reflections on love and relationships, to a determined rancher holding fast to her land and lifestyle in a rapidly changing West, to a thoughtful exploration of the death penalty, Utah Now has taken KUED viewers on visual journeys that explore the human condition.
Honored throughout its existence for excellence and craftsmanship, Utah Now represents a faster, more mobile response to issues and personalities than traditionally found in documentaries. Emphasizing the voices of men and women living closest to the events or challenges, the program is also a visual storyteller, inviting viewers to see places and lifestyles in a new and compelling fashion.
"KUED has a rich legacy of documentary production," offers KUED Director of Production Ken Verdoia. "And those well-researched, thoughtfully crafted programs with longer production timelines have been durable contributions to chronicling the Utah experience. Utah Now adds to that legacy in a different, but compelling fashion. Designed to be more responsive to events currently in the headlines, it offers a deeper profile of current events than can be found anywhere else on Utah television."
Constantly changing its focus to represent the diversity of issues at play in the state, Utah Now employs a flexible format, responsive to the needs of each subject selected for profiling.
"One program may be told exclusively through interviews with people living an issue," says Verdoia. "The next might be entirely a video essay. Rather than force a subject into a format, Utah Now seeks to craft the best format to portray the issue, event or personalities central to our storyline."

I really enjoy this program. I would like to see some discussion regarding the LDS Church's involvement in political action surrounding California's Proposition 8. Mr. Fabrizio did a wonderful job with this segment on KUER's program yesterday, I would like to see something similar to this on Utah NOW.
