Viewer Comments

I felt compelled to write and give Doug Fabrizio a viewer's compliment. I remember the first time I saw him on television I thought to myself, "here is a liberal that wants to point out everything wrong about Mormons and the state of Utah." I probably had this opinion for a couple of episodes. I interpreted his kind of "theatrical," hand on chin, long delays between questions as it's "all about Doug"... and not the person he was interviewing.

However, this poor initial opinion has completely changed to one of admiration and appreciation. If Doug's approach has anything to do with him, it is that he is attempting to be extremely good at what he does.

I have come to love his questioning style. I love his willingness and ability to ask the hard questions and not get people defensive. I don't know how much say he has in the program's topics, but I really like the topics as well (even if they go against my beliefs from time to time). Doug has a very good skill at talking about a "taboo" topic, but keeping it "academic," and not bashing or pointing fingers.

I could easily see Doug taking his unique and extremely professional abilities to the national level. Although I wonder if the uniqueness of Utah makes his above mentioned skills stand out more here than they would on a national level...where there isn't so much controversy and emotional involvement.

Anyway, Doug, thanks for taking your profession serious and attempting to be the best you can be... I see your efforts and emotions in each program!

Why aren't Southern Utah journalists invited to participate in the Governor's news conferences? The Spectrum and Daily News covers from Beaver County to the Arizona/Utah border and has important issues that will affect the entire state, such as the Lake Powell Pipeline, alternative energy development, FLDS Church, among others. These issues bring questions that are important and should be posed to the Governor.
