As we head into the final stretch of the 2008 election year, Utah NOW is presenting a series of debates in some of the races. Join us as we present the Utah Attorney General's debate between Attorney General Mark Shurtleff and challenger Jean Welch Hill.

Additional Information

The race for attorney general has been one of the liveliest this election year in Utah.  The incumbent - Mark Shurtleff and his democratic opponent - Jean Welch Hil have sparred over school vouchers, polygamy, and questions of ethics. The two have very different ideas about the role of the state's chief law enforcement officer-watch Utah NOW to see them debate those ideas.

Jean Welch Hill's candidacy is truly welcome. She has defined the Attorney General in terms that are clearer to the public and will empower the constituency with real representation if elected. Her belief in the transparency of this office is very refreshing and I urge people to vote for Jean Welch Hill.
