Elijah Abel was a Mormon pioneer who came to Salt Lake in 1853.

A carpenter by trade, Abel had been an associate of Joseph Smith, the founder and prophet of the LDS Church.

He was ordained to the LDS Melchizedek priesthood in 1836, and helped to erect the Nauvoo Temple in the 1840s.
