Utah's African-American Voices

By the 1890s the African-American community in Salt Lake City had established its own churches to fulfill spiritual and secular needs.

The Calvary Baptist Church congregation has been housed in numerous buildings over the years and hosted a lecture by Booker T. Washington in 1913.

Built in 1966, today's Calvary Baptist Church building is located at 532 East 700 South in Salt Lake City, Utah.
