Women have always been the "superheroes" - at home, work, in the community and in almost any setting you can imagine. So what's new!? We are also the ones who can influence the behavior and thinking of our friends and family. "Going Green" and sustainability are here to stay - we can have fun while teaching the ourselves and the next generation how we save the environment through making healthy choices that impact your health and environment and how we save natural resources by recycling and reusing. All "superwomen" (that's all of us!) are welcome! We have goodies to hand out as well.
Jen Colby is the Sustainability Coordinator for the University of Utah. The Office of Sustainability was created in 2007 thanks to the efforts of a dedicated team of students, staff, faculty, and alumni. It serves as a campus resource to promote more sustainable campus practices, education, and community awareness. Jen is passionate about organic gardening, cooking, community development, and historic preservation.
Susan Hayward is the Manager of Community Programs for Waste Management of Utah. Her top priority is focusing on promoting sustainability practices in homes and businesses. Working with city councils, legislatures, commissions, schools, and businesses gives her the opportunity to educate and implement sustainability practices on many levels. Her philosophy is that most individuals and businesses want to do the “right thing” when it comes to protecting the environment for future generations, sometimes they are just unsure how to begin.
