Series: Travel with Kids
Episode: O'ahu, Hawaii: Surf & History
Oahu is famous for its cosmopolitan flair with large hotels and big business in Waikiki and Honolulu. But, Nathan and Seamus soon find out that Hawaiian culture still plays a big part of life here as they learn to play the ukulele, hear tales of old Havaiki, visit the Polynesian Cultural Center and learn to surf. But ancient history is not the only history here. The boys discover World War II history as they go below deck into limited access areas of the USS Missouri battleship at Pearl Harbor, the ship where the peace treaty with Japan was signed. Then, they head to North Shore to discover famous surf spots and experience a more laid-back Oahu at the shrimp tucks and shaved ice stands of Haleiwa and then head over to Kualoa Ranch to visit some of Hawaii's famous movie and TV filming locations.
