Contact in the Community

Contact in the Community hosted by Mary Dickson, is a web series inspired by KUED’s Contact with Mary Dickson. The produced segments take a more in-depth look at Utah’s arts and culture organizations by going out into the community to highlight the wide range of groups and events available in the state.

UMOCA Cities of Conviction | Contact in the Community

UMOCA’s newest exhibition from Saudi Arabia, called Cities of Conviction, presents works that examine the struggle and transformation of Saudi society. It will be at UMOCA through January 6, 2018.

UMFA Reopening 2017 | Contact in the Community

Our latest episode of Contact in the Community takes us to the UMFA. Considered Utah’s flagship fine arts museum, the UMFA will open its doors on August 26th & 27th after being closed for a year for renovation.

We met with UMFA Director Gretchen Dietrich and Curator Leslie Anderson to learn about what’s new, what to expect, and what the museum has to offer. Stop by the UMFA Reopening Weekend event to peruse the galleries and new installations and enjoy works from visiting artists -- including Spencer Fench’s site-specific installation in the museum's Grand Hall -- plus activities for kids, food trucks, tours of the collections, tours of the basement, a dance party and more.

Located in the middle of Liberty Park, the museum is free & open to the public and hosts the park's annual summer concert series "Mondays in the Park," as well as different workshops and demonstrations with some of Utah’s leading folk artists.

Contact in the Community | The Bboy Federation

Since 2009, The Bboy Federation has been a showcase for urban dance, both for performances and as a viable path for young dancers to succeed through practice, performance and education. Founders James Karren and Joshua Perkins had already been featuring newer and seasoned dancers at events and just a year later they decided the Hip Hop scene in Utah was ready for a little more.
