A Home of Their Own follows the stories of three families living at the Road Home family shelter in Midvale Utah: a single working mother with four children; a single dad with a special needs child; and a mother determined to break the course of her drug addiction. Each family hoping for a safe and a lasting home of their own. By focusing on the experiences of these families, this 30-minute documentary shows how they navigate the homeless system in Utah, how they came to it, and where they are going.
Join KUED and Urban Food Connections of Utah (part of Downtown SLC) on a historical and culinary journey through tradition and black cultural identity. From award-winning documentary filmmaker Byron Hurt, Soul Food Junkies explores socioeconomic conditions in predominantly black southern neighborhoods where it can be difficult to find healthy food options, and introduces pioneers who are challenging the food industry by creating sustainable and eco-friendly gardens.
Refreshments will be provided. The event is FREE, but seating is limited – please make sure to RSVP via Eventbrite → https://
