KUED Kicks off Great American Read
KUED is partnering with The City Library to kick off The Great American Read, a new PBS campaign designed to spark a national conversation about reading and the books that have inspired, moved and shaped Americans.
The kick-off event on Saturday, May 12 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Main Library, 210 E. 400 S., will feature local booksellers, interactive activities, program announcements, and opportunities to share stories about life changing books.
The Great American Read is an eight-part television and online series that will introduce viewers to the full list of America’s 100 favorite novels selected through a demographically representative national survey. Audiences are encouraged to read the books, vote from the list of 100, and share their personal connections to the titles.
The Great American Read premieres Tuesday, May 22 at 7:00 p.m. on KUED, kicking off a summer of reading and voting. Episodes in the series will feature appearances by celebrities, athletes, experts, authors, and everyday Americans advocating for their favorite book. The final episode of the series will unveil America's best-loved book in October.
