KUED, PBS Kids Debut New Pre-School Program
Peg + Cat, airing on KUED weekdays at 8:00 a.m. and again at 1:00 p.m. is a new preschool series that follows the adorable, spirited Peg and her sidekick Cat as they embark on adventures, solve problems and learn math concepts and skills.
The new children’s series from the Fred Rogers Company premieres Monday, October 7 with a special one-hour broadcast of two back-to-back episodes. Each episode features a story in which Peg and her best friend, Cat, encounter an unexpected challenge that requires them to use math and problem-solving skills to save the day. Their adventures take them from a farm to a distant planet, from a pirate island to a prehistoric valley, from Romeo and Juliet's Verona to Cleopatra's Egypt to New York's Radio City Music Hall.
While teaching specific math lessons, the series shows the value of resilience and perseverance in problem-solving. Peg and Cat improvise, brainstorm and make mistakes, but they never give up. Using math to tame their wild and wacky world, they prove that it is empowering and cool for boys and girls.
Peg + Cat also includes interactive online content with games and other resources at pbskids.org/peg. A mobile app with more games, streaming video and parent resources will launch along with the broadcast premiere.
The series is funded in part by the U.S. Department of Education through the Ready to Learn initiative.
