KUED to Rebroadcast Interview with the Late Chase Peterson

Press Release

Sunday, September 28, 2014 - 5:30pm

KUED will rebroadcast a Utah Conversations with Ted Capener taped in 2012 with Chase Peterson, the former University of Utah president who passed away Sunday, September 14 at the age of 84. Capener’s last interview with Peterson airs Sunday, September 28 at 5:30 p.m. on KUED.

A former University of Utah Vice President, Capener sits down with lifelong friend, Chase Peterson, for a wide-ranging conversation exploring the issues — big and small — that have shaped the University over the previous 30 years.

In a touching and even humorous exchange, the former University colleagues reflect on Peterson's decades of service in Health Sciences and as President of the University from 1978 to 1991. Starting from his early recollections as a child growing up in Logan, Utah, Peterson takes us on his personal journey of life, learning, and service.

"Chase Peterson was indeed 'a man for all seasons,'" says Capener.   "From Cache Valley to Boston to Salt Lake, back to Harvard and then home to become President of the University of Utah. He was energetic, intellectual and filled with joy...all documented in his memoir The Guardian Poplar. Details of his life are captured in the interview."
