PBS NewsHour Weekend - episode: 1222H

Physicist Sean Carroll's new book delves into the 'many worlds' theory and what that means for physics and beyond. The "many worlds" theory in quantum mechanics describes the idea that with every decision we make new universes spring into existence containing new versions of ourselves. While that may sound preposterous, there are some theoretical physicists who believe that "many worlds" is actually an exact description of reality. In his new book "Something Deeply Hidden," bestselling author Sean Carroll, who teaches at the California Institute of Technology, stakes his reputation on the idea. NewsHour Weekend's Tom Casciato recently sat down with Carroll to discuss the implications of "many worlds" for physics and beyond.
